Places I've Travelled: BAHAMAS

I am currently sitting in a Bahamian Beach shack while I type this article up. I can hear the ocean, smell the traditional Bahamian dinner that is being prepared for our photoshoot crew and the timber shack where I'm staying is covered in the most beautiful collection of fairy lights and candles.
I’m staying on the Island of Eleuthera, just north of Governor’s Harbour. To get here, I mastered a 5 hour flight from L.A to Atlanta, followed by a connecting 1.5 hour flight to Nassau (The capital of the Bahamas, and where all the big resorts can be found) and then a tiny little ‘Pineapple Airways’ plane over to our little island home for the next three days. This particular island is known for its pink sand! The beach seems to illuminate with a pink glow when it is wet from the waves.
I’m here shooting with a bikini brand, OneOne, and feel so blessed to be able to travel so such magical destination to play around in bikinis all day!
The accomodation they have found us also doubles as our photoshoot location. It is a divine property with 4-5 free standing buildings which are all glass-free, open little bungalows. I’ve started trying to count the beds to see how many people it would sleep, but at least two of the rooms are over flowing with bunkbeds. The place feels like the perfect adult summer camp! It has such a fun, yet relaxing vibe, with the outsides of the building painted in bright teal and blue and styled with all these Bahamain trinkets and hand made furniture. It’s just the cutest.
This isn't my first time to the Bahamas. I have also visited the Exuma Island, which is slightly better known because of the Pigs, Sharks and Iguanas that you can get up close and personal too! Learning the story of the Swimming Pigs was fascinating and the photo opportunities are endless! The pig tour I took when I was here last time was run by the man who operates the Instagram account @theswimmingpigs. The boat tour took a group of us out to “Pig Island”, where the gorgeous little things swim up to the boat ready for their food. Next was to see the Iguanas, which for me wasn't as exciting as I'm not a huge reptile person and they made me quite uncomfortable! The tour also included a small hike to get a great view of the ocean, and a celebrity island tour so we could see the islands that belong to the rich and famous.
I’m looking forward to exploring this island tomorrow to see how it differs from Exuma. My first point of difference was getting to the island. I remember when I booked my flights to Exuma, you could fly in direct from Miami, which meant that the plane wasn't quite as small and intimidating as the one I took from Nassau to Governer’s Harbour.
Over all I love visiting the Bahamas. The people are friendly, the weather is perfect and the beaches are untouched. It really is a slice of paradise.
