Makeup Guru and beauty genius, @SuzieKMakeup shared some amazing tips and tricks with me as she painted my face recently! She also gave me a list of her favourite products to achieve some of my favourite makeup looks!

Getting The Glow.

That perfect skin glow. The one that is heavily sort after but not that easy to perfect. Well the secret is, it’s all about hydration. Right from the very beginning, before you even choose your illuminator.

Everyone wants that illuminating glow, but if you use the powders on dry skin it can show more of the unwanted texture of the skin. So hydrating and then layering the products is key. When you go to the store to buy the products and you're testing them out, try using the products on the back of your hand (where the skin is usually a bit more dry) and see what products don't show the lines in the skin. If you have super dry skin try to avoid the powder illuminators and stick to the cream based or liquid based products! They will sit better on your skin.

Suzie’s Product Suggestions

Kopari Coconut Oil Face Cream

Kopari is great for the coconut based body products, but they now also have a facial range! Their face cream is a great base to provide your skin with natural hydration. Plus, it smells amazing.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector

We like to use the Moonshine shade. This product can be used for the base after your moisturiser or on top after your foundation.

NYX Bright Idea Illuminating Stick

This is a cute little product that is quite compact in size so it’s great to keep in your bag for glow touch ups. It also comes in the different shades which is good if you have a specific colour based glow that you like. We use the lavender lust shade.

Hourglass Euphoric Strobe Light Powder

You can’t go past a Hourglass powder. They are beautifully packaged and will make your makeup kit look stylish and professional! The Strobe Light Powders are great additions to you glow layering. We used the ambient shade.

Choose The Right Bronzer.

The colour choice is key. There are so many orange based bronzers out there, so you need to make a smart decision when looking for a new bronzer to avoid that awkward orange. So Suzie’s advice when shopping is when you swatch it on your hand, if it looks orange to you it’s probably not going to be very flattering on the face. Different bronzers will appear different on each persons skin.

Honestly for bronzer, if you don’t have a lot of colour in you skin, you want to avoid using your bronzer all over your face. Stick to using it for gentle contouring and when selecting you colour, aim for one or two shades darker than your skin tone. Then you can make the colour of the bronzer stronger by layering if you need.

Suzie’s Product Suggestions

Kevin Aucoin The Celestial Bronzing Veil

I personally have developed a new crush on the Kevin Aucoin makeup range which is available at Sephora in the US. Suzie like to use their bronzer and the colour ‘Tropical Days’ worked really well on my skin.

Hoola Benefit Bronzer

This little bronzing box is gorgeous. It comes with its own brush and the colour is perfectly buildable to create the perfect level of bronzed contouring.

Get The Perfect Undone Lip.

With the rise in popularity of these new suede, velvet finish lip stains, you will start to change the way you colour your lips. The best thing about these products is that you don’t have to do the whole lip liner to get a nice look. The key is to balm your lips for hydration (overnight is great) so your lips are prepped, and then you apply the stain all over for a weightless, all day lip colour. The cream stains are great and they are your ideal all in one lip solution; perfect for your handbag.

If you are one of the girls that like to over line the lip a little bit, these products are perfect because you don't have to experience the embarrassing moment when you've eaten all your lipstick and you only have the lip liner left. The stains can withstand a lot more than your lipsticks.
